Phyllis moved to North Carolina in 2000 when she retired. Originally she had planned to learn quilting but there were no quilting classes. Barbara Hawthorn was teaching at the Weaving Cottage and that is where Phyllis got started. Barbara encouraged a reluctant Phyllis to sign up. She was hooked.
Her favorite part of weaving is choosing the color and warping the loom. Green is her color of choice, but she has expanded her color palette to the colors that our customers are looking for. She finds that she is learning to make better color choices and she is getting faster at weaving. The fact that people pay money to have her pieces gives her validation. It is not so much the money as the fact that people are willing to buy her creations. Her husband says, ” Look, you started with just a thread!”
